Safety scissors wtf?!

Safety scissors are one of those things that fry my brains. Cutting things with them is like trying to cut steak with a rubber knife. For four-year-olds, I can see their importance - what about protecting the young'uns from poking their dear eyes out - but why are they provided to junior high school classes? Do they fear that we will commit murder with the things? Or cut some important wires? For whatever reason we are obligated to their use I see as pointless - no pun intended - and futile. I hate them. They are useless and cramp your hands. To the PTA: legitimate scissors win. No one above the age of six should be forced to use safety scissors!
